Mothers attitude towards breastfeeding and child care

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem diplomové práce je porovnat postoj rodiček ke kojení a k péči o dítě v období šestinedělí. Metodika výzkumu: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 90 rodiček ze dvou pražských porodnic. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo od července 2019 do prosince 2019 a ke sběru dat byly použité dva standardizované dotazníky - dotazník Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale - Short Form, který hodnotí postoje rodiček ke kojení, a dotazník The Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy, který měří postoje rodiček k péči o dítě. Výsledky: Na základě analýzy výsledků byl prokázán statisticky významný rozdíl v postoji rodiček ke kojení po porodu a na konci období šestinedělí. Nebyl zjištěn vliv demografických faktoru rodiček (věk, partnerský vztah) na jejich postoje ke kojení během období šestinedělí. Ovšem byl zjištěn vliv sociodemografického faktoru (věku) na postoj rodiček k péči o dítě. Zároveň byl zjištěn statistický významný rozdíl v postoji rodiček k péči o dítě po porodu a na konci období šestinedělí. Závěr: Je důležité sledovat postoje rodiček ke kojení a k péči o dítě. Získané výsledky pomocí standardizovaných dotazníků v porovnání s demografickými faktory a mezi jednotlivými měřeními poukázaly na vhodnost použití těchto nástrojů pro hodnocení postoje rodiček ke kojení a k péči o dítě.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the diploma thesis is to compare the mothers' attitudes toward breastfeeding and child care in the puerperium. Methodology: The research group consisted of 90 mothers from two Prague maternity hospitals. The research survey was conducted from July 2019 to December 2019. Two standardized questionnaires were used to collect the data: the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale - Short Form that assesses mothers' attitudes to breastfeeding and The Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy that measures mothers' attitudes care for a child. Results: A statistically significant difference in the attitude of mothers to breastfeeding after the childbirth and at the end of the puerperium was demonstrated in the result-based analysis. The influence of demographic factors of mothers (age, marital status) on their attitudes to breastfeeding during the puerperium was not found/confirmed. However, the influence of the sociodemographic factor (age) on the attitude of mothers towards child care was found. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference was found in the attitude of mothers towards the care of the child after childbirth and at the end of the puerperium at the same time. Conclusion: It is important to monitor mothers' attitudes toward breastfeeding and child care. The results obtained using standardized questionnaires in comparison with demographic factors and between individual measurements showed the suitability of using these tools to assess the attitude of mothers to breastfeeding and child care.
