Self stigma, wellbeing and recovery in people with severe mental illness in the context of outpatient social services

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem mezi psychologickými koncepty recovery, self-stigma a wellbeing u lidí s vážným duševním onemocněním, kteří využívají ambulantní sociální služby. Dále má tato práce za cíl prokázat, zda existuje vztah mezi dobou, po kterou lidé s duševním onemocněním ambulantní služby využívají, a mírou recovery, sebestigmatizace a životní spokjenosti. Výzkumný soubor obsahuje 79 respondentů z vážným duševním onemocněním z oblasti psychotických a afektivních poruch, z toho 43 mužů a 36 žen. Použitými výzkumnými metodami jsou Questionare about proces of recovery (QPR), The Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale (ISMI) a Škála Životní Spokojenosti (ŠŽS). Použitou metodou sběru dat byl dotazník. Data byla kvalitativně vyhodnocena pomocí statistického programu SPSS. K zjištění vztahu mezi jednotlivými proměnnými byla použita korelační analýza. Byl prokázán velmi silný pozitivní vztah mezi proměnnými životní spokojenost a recovery. Také byl prokázán silný negativní vztah mezi proměnnými sebestigmatizace a recovery. Nepříliš těsný pozitivní vztah byl prokázán mezi dobou užívání služby a proměnnými recovery a životní spokojenost. Mezi dobou užívání služby a seestigmatizací byl prokázán středně silný neativní vztah.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the relationship between psychological concepts of recovery, self-stigma and wellbeing in people with severe mental illness, who use outpatient social services. Another goal of this thesis is to prove, if there is a relationship between the time you use the service and level of recovery, self stigma and wellbeing. The research sample includes 79 respondents with severe mental illness from the area of psychotic and affective disorders, of which 46 are men and 36 are woman. Research methods used are Questionare about proces of recovery (QPR), The Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale (ISMI) and Wellbeing scale (ŠŽS). Research data were collected through a questionnaire and quantified in statistical program SPSS. Correlation analysis were used to determine the relationships between variables.Very strong positive relationship has been demonstrated between wellbeing and rcovery. Strong negative relationship has been demonstrated between self-stigma and recovery. Not too tight relationship has been demonstrated between the time you use the service and recovery and wellbeing. Moderate negative relationship has been demonstrated between the time you use the service and self- stigma.
