Critical Discourse Analysis of George W. Bush's Speeches prior to the War in Iraq
Abstract:
The thesis occupies itself with the usage of rhetorical devices used by the former president of the United States, George W. Bush, in his speeches related to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the decision to initiate a war in Iraq. The theory and methodology of the thesis are anchored in the concept of critical discourse analysis of Teun A. van Dijk.
Abstract:
Práce se zabývá zkoumáním užití rétorických prostředků, které použil bývalý prezident Spojených států amerických, George W. Bush, ve svých promluvách v souvislosti s teroristickými útoky ze září 2001 a postupným směřováním k rozhodnutí iniciovat vojenskou intervenci v Iráku. Teorie a metodologie práce se oprírá o kritickou analýzu diskurzu podle Teuna A. van Dijka.
