The effect of the level of creativity on the motivation for getting a tattoo among univesity students

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá kreativitou (tvořivostí) u studentů vysokých škol a jejím potenciálním vlivem na motivaci k realizaci tetování. Hlavním cílem této práce je zjistit, zda-li má míra kreativních schopností člověka vliv na jeho rozhodnutí nechat se tetovat. V dnešní moderní společnosti je tetování již poměrně rozšířená věc, především mezi mladšími lidmi, kteří jej často považují za symbol a součást jejich self-exprese a self-identity či například za módní doplněk. Zajímalo nás, zda se individuální kreativní schopnosti člověka mohou v této formě sebe-exprese odrážet. Také se však částečně zaměříme na motivační činitele samotné, abychom se pokusili zjistit, jaké jsou důvody vedoucí k rozhodnutí nechat se či nenechat se potetovat. V teoretické části se pokusíme o definici a vysvětlení hlavních tří fenoménů, se kterými budeme při samotném výzkumu pracovat, a to tetování, motivace a kreativita. Shrneme stručně historii tetování, jednotlivé styly a techniky, které se při tetování používají a dále popíšeme samotný proces tetování. V další kapitole budeme hovořit o motivaci a nejčastějších motivačních faktorech, které vedou k rozhodnutí nechat se tetovat. Poslední část teorie je zaměřená na stručnou definici pojmů kreativita, nadání a talent. Ve výzkumné části provedeme kvalitativní výzkum prostřednictvím semistrukturovaných rozhovorů. Výzkumný vzorek složený z deseti studentů vysokých škol rozdělíme na dvě stejně velké výzkumné skupiny - na skupinu s tetováním a bez tetování. Výsledky těchto rozhovorů nejprve uvedeme v rámci těchto výzkumných skupin a následně porovnáme mezi sebou. Poté se pokusíme odpovědět na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the creativity (innovativeness) among university students and its potential influence on the motivation for getting a tattoo. The main purpose or rather goal for this thesis is to determine whether the individual level of creativity of a person can influence their decision to get tattooed. In our modern society, having a tattoo has become a common occurrence, especially among the younger people, who often look at their tattoos as a part of their self-expression and self-identity or as a fashion statement. We were curious, whether this form of self-expression might reflect the extent of one's creative abilities. However, we also want to focus on the motivation factors themselves, simply to determine the main factors leading to the decision to get or not to get tattooed. In the theoretical part of my thesis we will attempt to define and explain the three main phenomena, with which we will be working during this research: tattoo, motivation and creativity. The history of tattooing, along with individual styles and techniques used during tattooing and the actual tattooing process will be mentioned. The following chapter will focus on motivation and the most common motivational factors leading to the decision of getting a tattoo. The last part of the theoretical half will try to present a concise definition of the phenomena creativity, aptitude and talent. In the research part we plan to carry out a qualitative research by using the method of semi-structured interviews. The research sample consisting of 10 university students will be divided into two equally sized groups - one with tattoos and one without. Firstly, we will share the results of these interviews in the individual groups and afterwards we will compare the results between those groups. Lastly, we will try to answer our research questions.
