Preference of the learning styles pursuant to the prevailing intelligence types within university students with diverse study focuses

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá preferencemi učebních stylů podle převažujících druhů inteligence u studentů vysokých škol České republiky. Porovnává studenty s různým studijním zaměřením a zkoumá také mezipohlavní rozdíly, vliv učebních stylů na studijní průměr, vliv studijního průměru na spokojenost s učebním stylem a silné a slabé stránky učení studentů. V teoretické části definujeme ústřední pojmy (učení, inteligence, školní úspěšnost, vývojové období vysokoškolských studentů) a věnujeme pozornost dosavadním výzkumům na podobné téma. V empirické části zkoumáme preference učebních stylů pomocí MI Dotazníku na zjištění učebních stylů podle převažujících druhů inteligence. Naše práce potvrdila, že existují rozdíly mezi učebními styly studentů různých studijních zaměření i rozdíly mezi muži a ženami. Dále také potvrdila vliv učebních stylů na studijní průměr a vliv studijního průměru na spokojenost s učebním stylem. Možné příčiny našich zjištění a omezení naší práce jsou diskutovány.

Abstract:

The thesis examines preference of learning styles pursuant to the prevailing intelligence types within university students in the Czech Republic. It compares students with diverse study focuses and also researches the gender differences, the influence of the different learning styles on average grade, the influence of the average grade on the contentment with learning style and it examines the strengths and weaknesses of students' learning. In the theoretical part, we define the main concepts (learning, intelligence, the school success, and development period of university students) and we take into account existing researches on a similar theme. The dissertation has confirmed that there are differences amongst learning styles of students of diverse study majors; alongside with differences between men and women. It has also affirmed the influence of learning styles on average grade and the influence of the average grade on the contentment with learning style. Potential causes of our findings, as well as limitations have been discussed.
