Czech sitcom

Abstract:

Po obecném rozboru základních konvencí žánru sitcomu ale i jeho specifické odnože ? domcomu, jsou aplikovány jejich stereotypy a konvence na domcomy z českého prostředí. K analýze byla vybrána tři česká díla ? Taková normální rodinka, Horákovi a jeden z posledních českých sitcomů Comeback. Na základě těchto seriálů je demonstrováno, jak s konvencemi žánru sitcomu, potažmo domcomu české prostředí zachází. Tato práce zároveň vypovídá základní teze o stavu českého sitcomu v průběhu žánrového formování televize v České republice

Abstract:

The intention of this thesis is to define not yet discussed area of Czech television production, a typical television genre ? sitcom. In the Czech Republic the sitcom series are known only through successful foreign pieces, while Czech production consists of only a few titles. The choice is further limited to such a kind of sitcom, where a nucleus family represents the central environment (according to the research of R. F. Taflinger, I use the compound term ?domcom? ? domestic comedy). After the general analysis of elementary conventions of sitcom and its clones, I apply its stereotypes and features on the Czech production. I chose three Czech sitcoms ?Taková normální rodinka (Quite an Ordinary Family), Horákovi and one of the recent shows, Comeback. Based on these series, I demonstrate how domcom features resemble within the Czech environment. The thesis also maps the position of the Czech sitcom within the Czech television genre context
