The picture of emotional deprivation in the literary work by Peter Härtling

Abstract:

This diploma thesis covers the topic of children & adults' deprivation in the books of author Peter Härtling. It studies the cause of the deprivation and also deals with the topic of dysfunctional father-son relationship. Thesis is split into two parts - the first is theoretical and the second one is practical. Author of the books and also his work is presented in the theoretical part. There is also covered the concept of emotional suffering and its cause from the historical and also current psychology perspective. The practical part deals with three Härling's books: Theo haut ab, Nachgetragene Liebe and Brief an meine Kinder. This chapter is focused on the main characters' deprivation and it also registers the causes and consequences in specific parts of the text. The main goal of the research was to analyse Härtling's characters, who manifest the main signs of emotional deprivation, also examine the cause of the deprivation and consequential feeling of loneliness, deficiency of trust, self-esteem or even a respect. It also covers the personal experience of the author and their influence on his future perception of the world which is surrounding him.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá tématem deprivací u dětí a dospělých v dílech Petra Härtlinga. Zamýšlí se nad jejich příčinami a zároveň se hlouběji věnuje tématu disfunkčního vztahu otce se synem. Práce se dělí na dvě části, a to na teoretickou a na praktickou. V teoretické části je představen samotný autor a jeho tvorba a zároveň je vysvětlen pojem emocionální strádání a jeho příčiny z pohledu historie a dnešní psychologie. V praktické části jsou rozebrány tři Härlingovy knihy: "Theo haut ab", "Nachgetragene Liebe" a "Brief an meine Kinder". Na konkrétních úryvcích z těchto knih je dokládána deprivace postav a její nejrůznější příčiny a následky. Cílem průzkumu byl rozbor Härtlingových postav, které vykazují znaky psychického strádání, hledání příčin jejich deprivace a s ní spojených pocitů osamění, nedostatku důvěry, sebedůvěry nebo respektu. Zároveň se práce zabývá osobními zkušenostmi autora a jejich vlivem na jeho budoucí vnímání sama sebe a světa kolem něj.
