Business in Shades of Green? A Comparison of the Environmental Potential of the Concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Enterprise, with Emphasis on Small and Medium Enterpises.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rolí malých a středních podniků při řešení a předcházení environmentálním problémům prostřednictvím konceptu společenské odpovědnosti podniků (CSR) a konceptu sociálního podniku. Jsou v ní definovány principy společenské odpovědnosti malých a středních podniků a shrnuty vlastnosti, které jsou přisuzovány sociálním podnikům. Koncept CSR je nahlížen z hlediska možných environmentálně příznivých změn v přístupu k podnikání. V případě konceptu sociálního podniku práce upozorňuje na myšlenky autorů heterodoxních ekonomických směrů, kteří koncept sociálního podniku spojují s jeho environmentálním rozměrem. V závěru jsou oba koncepty porovnány s důrazem na to, jak se promítají do chodu podniku.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in solving and preventing environmental problems through the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the concept of social enterprise. The principles of social responsibility of small and medium-sized enterprises are here defined together with the summary of characteristics that are attributed to social enterprises. The concept of CSR is shown from the perspective of environmentally positive changes in approach to business. Concerning the concept of social enterprise the diploma thesis highlights the ideas of the authors of heterodox economic trends who are linking the concept of social enterprise to its environmental dimension. In the end both concepts are compared with emphasis on how they project into the business process.
