The orthography of the capital letters

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pravopisem velkých písmen, který je v českém jazyce považován za jeden z nejobtížnějších pravopisných jevů. Teoretická část je zaměřena na vývoj českého pravopisu a jeho pravidel. Jsou představena jednotlivá vydání Pravidel českého pravopisu od prvních z roku 1902 až po nejnovější kodifikaci z roku 1993 a aktivity Ústavu pro jazyk český AV ČR v této oblasti. Cílem praktické části bylo zjistit znalost pravopisu velkých písmen u uživatelů různých věkových skupin a jejich názor na případné změny v českém pravopisu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the orthography of the capital letters, which are considered as one of the most difficult grammatical phenomena in the Czech language. The theoretical part describes the development of the Czech orthography and its rules. Each edition of the Rules of the Czech Orthography from early (1902) to the latest (1993) codification and activities of the Institute of the Czech Language of the AS CR in this area are described. The goal of practical part was identify knowledge of the orthography of the capital letters of different users in different age groups and their position on possible changes in the Czech orthography.
