Validation study of Victoria version Stroop test for assessment of dysexecutive deficit in patients with Parkinson’s disease

Abstract:

Rozlišovací schopnost Victoria verze Stroopova testu (VST) je ověřována na souboru o velikosti 100 respondentů: 37 respondentů tvoří kontrolní skupinu neurologicky a kognitivně zdravých jedinců (NK) a 63 tvoří klinickou skupinu pacientů s Parkinsonovou nemocí (PN). Průměrný věk (NK = 59,1 ± 12,3; PN = 58,1 ± 9,6) a počet let vzdělání (NK = 14,8 ± 3,2; PN = 14,2 ± 2,9) skupin se signifikantně neliší. Skupina pacientů s PN se dále dělí na: PN se syndromem demence (PN-D, n = 5) dle kritérií Dubois et al. (2007, Level I), PN s kognitivním deficitem (PN-KD, n = 31) a PN bez kognitivního deficitu (PN-BKD, n = 27). Pacienti s PN-D mají i po Bonferroniho korekci hladiny významnosti oproti NK signifikantně nižší schopnost inhibovat interferenci. Pro signifikantní rozdíly (po i před Bonferroniho korekcí) mezi skupinami ve vybraných skórech je provedena ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) analýza ve snaze stanovit optimální diagnostické a screeningové cut-off skóry. Výkon skupiny PN-KD se signifikantně neliší od výkonu NK. Dále jsou na základě výkonu v baterii testů exekutivních funkcí identifikováni pacienti s PN s dysexekutivním deficitem (n = 7). Je zjištěno, že se ve schopnosti inhibovat interferenci měřené VST signifikantně liší od zbývajících respondentů bez dysexekutivního deficitu (n = 82; u 11ti pacientů s PN chybí data v testové baterii). Je provedena ROC analýza a stanoveny optimální diagnostické a screeningové cut-off skóry.

Abstract:

Discriminant validity of Victoria Stroop Test (VST) is investigated in a sample group of 100 subjects: 37 people without neurological disorders and cognitive deficit (NK) and 63 people with Parkinson´s disease (PN). Average age (NK = 59,1 ± 12,3; PN = 58,1 ± 9,6) and years of education (NK = 14,8 ± 3,2; PN = 14,2 ± 2,9) of both groups are matched. The PN group is divided into PN patients with dementia syndrome (PN-D, n = 5) according to Dubois et al. (2007, Level I) criteria, PN patients with cognitive deficit (PN-KD, n = 31), and PN patients without cognitive deficit (PN-BKD, n = 27). PN-D patients have lower ability to inhibit interference than the NK group (after Bonferroni correction of significance). In order to determine optimal diagnostic and screening cut-off scores, ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) analysis is used. Performance of the PN-KD does not significantly differ from NK group performance. According to the results of a set of tests of executive functions, PN patients with dysexecutive syndrome (n = 7) were identified. These patients differ significantly from the respondents without dysexecutive deficit (n = 82; data from the battery of tests are missing in 11 PN patients) in the ability to inhibit interference of VST. ROC analysis was performed and optimal diagnostic and screening cut-off scores were determined.
