Conformity in the context of social media

Abstract:

Anotace Tato magisterská práce představuje výsledky studie, jejímž cílem bylo prozkoumat potenciální rozdíly v konformním chování. Studie zkoumala čtyři faktory: pohlaví, věk, čas strávený na sociálních médiích a variabilitu srdeční frekvence. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. První část poskytuje teoretický přehled, shrnuje a shromažďuje současné relevantní poznatky a kriticky je hodnotí. Druhou částí je empirická část, která se skládá z popisu výsledků experimentu a jejich následné reflexe. Studie měla některá omezení, zejména relativně malý vzorek z logistických důvodů, což omezuje zobecnitelnost zjištění. I přes tato omezení však výsledky této studie nabízejí cenné poznatky o možných rozdílech v konformním chování a mohou být podkladem pro budoucí výzkum tohoto tématu. Kromě toho tato studie zdůrazňuje, že při koncipování a interpretaci výzkumu v této oblasti je důležité brát v úvahu různé faktory, které mohou konformní chování ovlivňovat, jako jsou například osobnostní rozdíly. Abstract:

Annotation This master's thesis presents the results of a study designed to explore potential differences in conformity behaviour. The study examined four factors: gender, age, time spent on social media, and heart rate variability. The paper is divided into two main parts. The first part provides a theoretical overview, summarizes and compiles contemporary relevant findings, and critically reviews them. The second part is the empirical part, which consists of a description of the experimental results and their follow-up reflection and discussion. The study had some limitations, particularly the relatively small sample size for logistical reasons, which limits the generalisability of the findings. However, despite these limitations, the results of this study offer valuable insights into possible differences in conformity behaviour and can inform future research on this topic. In addition, this study highlights the importance of taking into account various factors that may influence conformity behaviour, such as personality differences, when designing and interpreting research in this area.
