Abstract:

Cílem této studie bylo prozkoumat zabezpečení chytrých telefonů používaných dospělými uživateli, metody používané k odemykání jejich telefonů a znalosti uživatelů o těchto metodách a jejich telefonech. Data byla shromážděna prostřednictvím dotazníků a pomocí aplikace pro sběr dat z chytrých telefonů uživatelů. Vzorek zahrnoval 485 českých a slovenských uživatelů operačních systémů Android a iOS. Naše hlavní zjištění byla, že uživatelé, kteří používali telefony déle a měli nainstalováno více aplikací, měli nainstalováno více rizikové aplikace. Zjistili jsme, že 72,8 % uživatelů mělo aktivovanou biometrii a 86,0 % mělo aktivní zamykací obrazovku. Uživatelé, kteří používali biometrii nebo zamykací obrazovku, byli mladší, muži, používali chytré telefony déle, měli vyšší sebevědomí ohledně používání chytrých telefonů, větší přehled v oblasti kyberbezpečnosti, větší znalosti o bezpečnosti, vnímali náklady na zabezpečení chytrých telefonů jako nižší a používali systém iOS. Přibližně 66,6 % uživatelů znalo správnou odpověď na všechny čtyři otázky týkající se znalostí o chytrých telefonech. Tito uživatelé měli převážně IT vzdělání, vyšší sebevědomí s chytrými telefony, nainstalované rizikovější aplikace, vyšší počet aplikací nainstalovaných v zařízení a vnímali náklady na zabezpečení chytrých telefonů jako nižší. Naše zjištění mají důsledky pro budoucí výzkum a ukazují také význam vzdělávání zaměřeného na specifické skupiny a vliv uživatelského rozhraní a UX operačních systémů chytrých telefonů na využívání biometrie a zamykacích obrazovek.

Abstract:

This study aimed to explore the security of smartphones used by adult users, the authentication methods used for unlocking their smartphones, and the users' knowledge about these methods and their smartphones. We gathered our data through surveys and by using an application to collect the data from users' smartphones. The sample included 485 Czech and Slovak users of both Android and iOS. Our main findings were that users who used phones for longer and who had more applications installed had more risky applications installed. We found that 72.8% of users had biometrics enabled, and 86.0% had lock screen enabled. Users using biometrics or lock screens were younger, males, had been using smartphones for longer, had higher self-efficacy with smartphones, higher security orientation, higher security knowledge, perceived the costs of securing smartphones as lower, and were using iOS. About 66.6% of users knew the correct answer to all four smartphone knowledge questions. These users were mainly of IT background, had higher self-efficacy with smartphones, had more risky applications installed, a higher number of applications installed on their device, and perceived the costs of securing smartphones as lower. Our findings have implications for future research and also show the importance of education for specific groups and the influence of UI and UX of smartphone operating systems on the adoption of biometrics and lock screens.
