Zootherapy in institutions for terminally ill

Abstract:

Moje diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou využívání terapie za pomoci zvířat v zařízeních pro nevyléčitelně nemocné. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teorie představuje základní pojmy týkající se této problematiky, jako jsou například zooterapie, nevyléčitelně nemocní, canisterapie, felinoterapie a další. Zooterapii je věnována větší pozornost z několika kritérií – např. podle druhu zvířete, metod práce se zvířaty, forem a z hlediska účastníků. První část mé práce také obsahuje stručný pohled na zařízení pro nevyléčitelně nemocné a nemoci, kterými tito lidé trpí nejvíce. Popisuje pozitivní vliv zooterapie na člověka a to včetně pozitivních hormonálních odezev, které tato terapie vyvolává. Cílem mé diplomové práce bylo zjistit využití a efekty zooterapie v několika vybraných zařízeních. K závěrům jsem došla pomocí kvalitativně orientovaného výzkumu. Využila jsem metodu polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se zooterapeuty a dalšími pracovníky, kteří jsou v přímém kontaktu s klienty podstupujícími zooterapii.

Abstract:

My diploma thesis engages in problems of the animal therapy use in facilities for the incurable patients. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theory introduces basic concepts such as zootherapy, terminally ill, canistherapy, felinotherapy and others. Zootherapy notion is deeper specified according to several criterions – kind of an animal, methods of use, its forms and participants. First part of my work also contains brief view on facilities for incurable patients and illnesses, which clients of these suffer most. It describes positive zootherapy effect on humans, including positive hormonal responses, which this therapy causes. The aim of my work was to detect the zootherapy uses and its influence on patients in selected facilities. This appears in my qualitatively oriented research, which forms the practical part of this thesis. I used the semi-structured interviews with the zootherapists and other workers who are in direct contact with clients undergoing zootherapy.
