Comparison of Investment Life Insurance with Shares Funds

Abstract:

Významem této práce je přinést objektivní pohled na současný stav trhu investičního životního pojištění a podílových fondů. Podívat se na to jaká je budoucnost investičního životního pojištění a podílových fondů, jaký je jejich účel a výhodnost pro klienta, srovnat je mezi sebou a hledat jejich rezervy a možný potenciál rozvoje. Podat informace o jednotlivých produktech investičního životního pojištění a podílových fondů a poukázat na skrytá nebezpečí v nich obsažená. Zanalyzovat jednotlivé investiční produkty dostupné na trhu a navrhnout jiné možné varianty a toto vše demonstrovat na konkrétních příkladech. Velmi efektivní a objektivní se jeví srovnání pomocí metody TANK, tedy typická nákladovost konstrukce. U jednotlivých fondů se dá využít ukazatel TER (Total Expense Ratio), vypovídající o výši nákladů fondu. Důležitým faktorem při srovnání investičního životního pojištění a podílových fondů je také to, v jaké životní situaci se spotřebitel nachází a k jakému účelu chce finanční produkt využít. Ze zjištěných skutečností vyplývá, že investiční životní pojištění je velmi populární produkt, nicméně hlavně díky nedostatečné finanční gramotnosti klientů, špatnému způsobu komunikace produktu ze strany pojišťovny, která chce, aby jej klient vnímal spíše jako investiční nebo spořící nástroj něž nástroj pro krytí rizik, je investiční životní pojištění ve většině případů pro klienta produkt nevýhodný. Velká penetrace investičního životního pojištění na trhu je také díky nedostatku objektivních informací, nedostatečné regulaci v pojišťovnictví a v neposlední řadě taktéž způsobem prodeje pojišťovacích zprostředkovatelů a finančních poradců. Ve většině případů se jako výhodnější pro klienta jeví podílový fond v případě potřeby krytí rizik v kombinaci s rizikovým životním pojištěním. Z hlediska nákladovosti je investiční životní pojištění ve většině případů dražším investičním nástrojem než podílový fond i při zohlednění daňových výhod.

Abstract:

The purpose of this dissertation is to provide an objective view of the current situation on the market of unit-linked life insurance and mutual funds and to take a look at what the future is of unit-linked insurance and mutual funds is, what their purpose is and what their benefits for the client are, and to compare them and search for reserves and possible development potential. The dissertation also aims to present information about individual products of unit-linked insurance and mutual funds and point out the hidden dangers that they contain, and to analyze individual investment products that are available on the market, propose other possible alternatives and demonstrate all of this on specific examples. As very effective and objective appears to be comparisons using the TANK method, i.e., the typical cost structure. For individual funds it is possible to use the TER indicator (Total Expense Ratio), which shows the fund’s costs. Additional important factors when comparing unit-linked insurance and mutual funds are also the life situation the consumer is currently in and the purpose for which he/she would like to use the financial product. The research shows that unit-linked insurance is a very popular product, nevertheless mainly due to the insufficient financial knowledge of clients, poor communication of the product by insurance companies that want that client to perceive it more as an investment or savings instrument rather than an instrument for risk coverage, unit-linked insurance is an unsuitable product for the client in most cases. The large penetration of unit-linked insurance on the market is also given by the lack of objective information, insufficient regulation of the insurance sector and, last but not least, also by the sales methods of insurance agents and financial advisors. In most cases, mutual funds -- which can be combined with risk life insurance if there is a need to cover risks -- appear as more suitable for clients. From the perspective of costs, unit-linked life insurance is a more expensive investment instrument than mutual funds in most cases, even when tax advantages are taken into account.
