Economic Basis of Social Classes in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je ověření platnosti sociálně stratifikačního schématu ESeC a jeho odrazu v české ekonomické realitě. Snahou autorky je zjistit, zda v české společnosti existují ekonomicky jasně odlišitelné třídy odpovídající konceptuálně definovaným třídám schématu ESeC. Současně je snahou autorky zmapovat vývoj třídního rozložení české společnosti v letech 1994 až 2010. Vytyčených cílů se autorka snaží dosáhnout pomocí analýzy, jež je rozdělena do dvou částí. První část analýzy se zaměřuje na jistotu pracovního poměru, kde jsou pomocí metody logistické regrese, prezentovány poměrné šance příslušníků jednotlivých tříd na riziko ztráty zaměstnání. V druhé části analýzy autorka pomocí analýzy rozptylu (ANOVA) analyzuje průměrné příjmy tříd a jejich vývoj. Veškerá provedená analýza je založena na datech pocházejících z Výběrového šetření pracovních sil a Čtvrtletního šetření o průměrném výdělku.

Abstract:

The aim of this master’s thesis is validation of social stratification scheme ESeC and it’s reflection in reality of Czech economic. The autor wants to find out whether there are economically clearly distinguishable classes corresponding to the defined conceptual schema ESEC classes, in Czech society. At the same time the author is trying to map the development of the class distribution of Czech society in the years 1994 to 2010. The goals, the author is trying to achieve through the analysis, which is divided into two parts. The first part of the analysis focuses on the security of employment, where they are using the logistic regression, presented relative odds of members of each class at the risk of losing their jobs. In the second part the author analyzes using analysis of variance (ANOVA) analyzes the average income classes and their development. All the performed analysis is based on data derived from the Labour Force Survey and the Quarterly survey of average earnings.
