Everything Goes Better with the Songs or The Life and the Captivity in Russia through the Eyes of Josef Ryznar during the World War I

Abstract:

Zaznamenané příběhy a výpovědi vojáků, zajatců aj. lidí z období 1. světové války jsou strhujícím doložením o tom, že bychom neměli zapomínat na tyto osudy. Cílem mé práce byl reálný nástin životní stezky Josefa Ryznara, který padl do ruského zajetí, zažil spoustu událostí, účastnil se dlouhé cesty přes Vladivostok domů a rozšířil zde svůj už tak poměrně rozsáhlý repertoár lidových písní. Etnografický, cenný odkaz je nepopiratelný. Důvěryhodnost práce je podložena srovnáním s dalšími podobnými příběhy a osudy legionářů. Setkáme se např. i s T. G. Masarykem či pojmem Oral History. Životopis J. Ryznara byl čerpán z dosud nevytěženého, neobjeveného archivního spisu, díky čemuž dostává má práce hlavní bod své jedinečnosti a výjimečnosti.

Abstract:

The stories and testimonies of soldiers, captives and others people during the First World War are an impressive proof that we should not forget these stories. The aim of my thesis was the real outline of the Josef Ryznar’s life. After falling into Russian captivity, he had experienced many things and he had participated in the long journey through Vladivostok to get home. He also expanded here his already quite extensive repertoire of folk songs. The ethnographic valuable legacy is undeniable. The credibility of my thesis is based on a comparison with the other similar stories and fates of the Legionnaires. In my thesis we can find notions like Oral History and T. G. Masaryk. Biography of J. Ryznar was drawn from the unexplored archive file. This fact makes my thesis unique and extraordinary.
