GENDER STEREOTYPES AND GENDER PERCEPTIONS IN TELEVISION ADVERTISING

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá genderovými stereotypy a genderovým vnímáním v televizní reklamě. Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit jak jsou představeni muži a ženy v televizní reklamě, jaké mají sociální role, jestli se objevují v reklamách genderové stereotypy a jak je vnímá mladá generace. V teoretické části práce jsou popsána pravidla pro vytvoření reklamního sdělení, jeho druhy a formy; zvláštnosti vnímání reklamního sdělení; pojem "gender", "genderový stereotyp"; sexismus v reklamě; zákony o regulaci a etický kodex reklamy. V praktické části práce byl použit marketingový výzkum, který pomohl zjistit, že reklama tak či jinak ovlivňuje skutečný život. Typické charakteristiky žen v reklamě jsou rodinného charakteru např., žena v domácnosti, která by měla být slabá, citlivá, laskavá a jemná. Typické role mužů v televizní reklamě jsou profesionální a obchodní. Vyzkum ukazal, že existuje vzájemný vliv reálného života a televizní reklamy, proto se genderové stereotypy v reálném životě odrážejí v televizních reklamách.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with gender stereotypes and gender perceptions in television advertising. The aim of this thesis is to find out how men and women are represented in television advertising, what social roles they play, if there are gender stereotypes in TV advertising and how the young generation perceives them. In the theoretical part, the rules of advertising message creation, its types and forms; features of advertising perception; the term "gender" and "gender stereotype"; sexism in advertising; Advertising Act and the ethical code of advertising, are described. In the practical part, marketing research was used. It helped to find out that advertising is influencing real life. Typical female characteristics in advertising have family nature, for example, a housewife who should be weak, sensitive, kind and gentle. Typical male roles in TV advertising are professional and commercial. The research has shown that there is mutual influence of real life and television advertising. Becuse of that gender stereotypes in real life are reflected in TV commercials.
