Muslim women in the West: Integration and Confrontation

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the topic of Muslim women living in the West. The aim of this diploma work is to fix on Muslim women in the West and to concentrate on their integration and confrontation with a new and different enviroment. The thesis concerns about subjects like: (1.) the role of Muslim women, their claims and duties, (2.) the clothes of the Muslim women and problems of their difference, (3.) reasons for migration, (4.) problems of integration and assimilation in the new enviroment, (5.) misunderstanding and reluctance of the community, difficulties with finding new job etc. At the beginning, the role of Muslim women is described, also their claims and duties. Then, the thesis is concentrating on Muslim women just in the West and difficulties with adaptation in the new enviroment. The main problems they deal with are: different features, clothes, traditions and manners, problems with new language etc. These cases are gradually described with more details.

Abstract:

Práca sa venuje téme muslimských žien žijúcich na Západe. Cieľom tejto bakalárskej diplomovej práce je upriamiť sa na muslimské ženy na Západe a zamerať sa na ich integráciu a konfrontáciu s novým, odlišným prostredím. Práca sa týka problematík ako sú: (1.) postavenie muslimských žien, ich práva či povinnosti, (2.) oblečenie muslimských žien a problémy vyplývajúce z neho, (3.) dôvody migrácie, (4.) problémy spojené s integráciou a asimiláciou s novým prostredím, (5.) nepochopenie a neochota okolia, ťažkosti so zamestnaním a pod. V prvom rade sú definované pojmy a vysvetlené postavenie ženy v islame, jej všeobecné práva a povinnosti. Ďalej sa práca zameriava už konkrétne na muslimské ženy výhradne v západných krajinách a problémy spojené s adaptáciou a vysporiadaním sa v novom prostredí ako su: odlišný vzhľad, oblečenie, iné tradície a zvyky, jazykové problémy a pod. Tieto problémy sú postupne podrobnejšie rozpracované.
