Analysis of the development of communication skills of children with mental disabilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou rozvoje komunikačních schopností dětí s mentálním postižením. Přesněji dětí s lehkým mentálním postižením, které jsou vzdělávány formou integrace v logopedické třídě mateřské školy. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, teoretickou a praktickou. Část první, teoretická, se zabývá vymezením pojmů mentální postižení a systém péče o děti s mentálním postižením. Dále charakterizuje pojmy komunikace, řečový vývoj a rozvoj u dětí intaktních a dětí s mentálním postižením, vliv rodinného prostředí. Část druhá, praktická, představuje výzkumný projekt kvalitativního charakteru. Zahrnuje vypracované případové studie dvou pozorovaných dětí, zaměřené především na řečový vývoj v průběhu edukačního procesu, analýzu rozvoje komunikačních schopností pozorovaných dětí a interpretaci výsledků výzkumného šetření.

Abstract:

The thesis analyzes the development of communication skills of children with mental disabilities. More specifically, the subjects are children with mild intellectual disabilities who are educated in an integrated speech therapy-oriented preeschool class. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. Theoretical part defines and describes the mental disabilities and the system of care for children with mental disabilities. In further describes the concepts of communication, speech and language development in children with and without mental disabilities, and influence of family environment. The second part describes the qualitative research project. The project comprises of case studies of two observed children that focus primarily on speech development during the educational process, analysis of the development of communication skills and interpretation of research results.
