Precarious work in the digital platform economy

Abstract:

Tato práce skrze autoetnografickou metodu zkoumá platformovou práci z pohledu řadového pracovníka. Přináší tak aktuální primární data o prekarizaci platformové práce. Na základě literatury vymezuje 7 dimenzí prekarity, které vyhodnocuje po měsíčním působení na platformě. Poukazuje na posun prekarity práce a na největší problémy a bariéry, kterým pracovník při vstupu do platformové ekonomiky čelí. Cílem této práce je zhodnotit jednotlivé dimenze prekarity a nakolik ovlivňují pracovníka. Současně se práce zaměřuje na interní pomocné nástroje vytvořené komunitou kolem platformy a hodnotí, nakolik jsou účinné v potlačení prekarity práce.

Abstract:

Through an autoethnographic method, this paper examines platform work from the perspective of the ordinary worker. It thus provides up-to-date primary data on the precarization of platform work. Based on the literature, it defines 7 dimensions of precarity, which it assesses after a month of platform work. It highlights the shift in precarity of work and the biggest challenges and barriers that a worker faces when entering the platform economy. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the different dimensions of precarity and how much they affect the worker. At the same time, the thesis looks at the internal support tools developed by the community around the platform and assesses how effective they are in counteracting the precarity of work.
