Louis XIV and the esclandres of his court. Comparative analysis and translation of two textes in different functional styles.

Abstract:

In my diploma work I focus on the analysis and comparison of two texts in different functional styles and their translation. Both texts refer to Louis XIV, king of France, and his court. One of the texts is written in the nonfiction style by Françoise Bluche, the other text is a novel and the author is Max Gallo. The analytical part is divided into several sectional analysis’. The first one of them is focused on the potential atmosphere of both translations by the comparison of several already existing translations of both mentioned authors. Another analysis examines how particular authors look at the personage of Louis XIV which gives us information about the functional style which is being captured in the texts. The following analysis closely focuses on these styles. I dedicated the end of my project to the traductologic analysis of individual texts focused on stylistic ways used by the authors. In the practical part of my diploma work there are translations of both texts.

Magisterská práce se zabývá rozborem a porovnáním dvou textů v různých funkčních stylech a jejich následným překladem. Oba texty se týkají francouzského krále Ludvíka XIV. a jeho dvora, jeden z nich je ve stylu populárně naučném od Françoise Bluche, druhý je román a autor je Max Gallo. Analytická část je rozdělená na několik dílčích analýz. První z nich se zaměřuje na potenciální recepční prostředí obou případných překladů, a to porovnáním několika již existujících překladů obou zmiňovaných autorů. Další analýza zkoumá, jak jednotliví autoři pojali osobnost Ludvíka XIV., z čehož následně vyplyne i funkční styl, který se v textech jednotlivých autorů vyskytuje, těmito styly se blíže zabývá následující analýza. Na závěr byla provedena traduktologická analýza jednotlivých textů, zabývající se stylistickými prostředky, které autoři použili. V praktické části jsou překlady obou textů.
