The Mosaics of the roman Church of Santa Prassede
Abstract:
Římský kostel Sv. Praxedy na Esquilinu, jejímž objednavatelem byl papež Paschal I. (817-824), je považován, i se svou mozaikovou výzdobou, za příklad tak zvané karolínské renesance v Římě. Tato výzdoba fascinovala a dodnes fascinuje badatele, kteří v ní pozorují, mimo jiné, vizuální odkazy na dobu raně křesťanskou. Snahou této práce je dosavadní poznatky sumarizovat a propojit. Abstract:
The Basilica of Saint Praxedes on Esquilin, which was ordered by the Pope Paschal I. (817-824) which is considered, even with its mosaics, as an example of so called Carolingian Renaissance in Rome. This decoration has fascinated and still fascinates researchers who observe the visual legacy of the early Christian age. The endeavor of this work is to summarize and connect the existing findings.
