Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá historií fenoménu politického komentátorství ve Spojených státech amerických. Zaměřuje se na dva významné pravicové politické komentátory minulého století. Prvním z nich je Charles E. Coughlin, znám také jako „rozhlasový kněz“, který se stal nechvalným kvůli svým antisemitistickým názorům. Druhým je Ronald Reagan,40. prezident USA, který působil také jako politický komentátor. Tato práce nabízí analýzu jejich rozhlasových projevů a pokouší se zodpovědět otázku, kterou skupinu považovali tito muži za největší hrozbu pro americkou společnost.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the history of the phenomenon of political commentary in the United States of America. It focuses on two prominent right-wing political commentators of the last century. The first one is Charles E. Coughlin, also known as the “Radio Priest” who became quite infamous because of his anti-Semitic views. The second one is Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the USA who spent a brief period of time as a political commentator. This thesis offers an analysis of their radio addresses and attempts to answer which group they saw as the largest threat to American society.
