¨Dying, Death and Ethanasia from Senioes´Point of View

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá obecným vnímáním umírání a smrti moderní středoevropské společnosti v závislosti na náboženství a rodinných poměrech. V teoretické části práce jsou definována stádia umírání, psychický a fyzický stav umírajících a jejich bio-psycho-socio-spirituální potřeby. Je zde také vymezen pojem eutanazie, její historie a konfrontace eutanazie s náboženskými pohledy a pohledy lékařských asociací. V závěru teoretické části je dále nastíněna problematika hospicového hnutí a důstojného konce života. Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, nakolik jsou lidé obeznámeni s tématy eutanazie, hospic, umírání a paliativní péče a dozvědět se jejich názory na tuto problematiku. Vzhledem k tomu, že smrt a umírání jaksi přirozeně situujeme do staršího věku, byli jako respondenti vybráni senioři ve věku 51 let a více, kteří v dotazníkovém šetření odpovídali na 18 otázek. Jejich odpovědi jsou zpracovány v empirické části diplomové práce.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with general comprehension of dying and death in the modern central European society dependent on religion and family relationship. In the theoretical part, there are definitions of stages of dying, mental and physical state of dying people and their biological, psychological, sociological and spiritual needs. Also the term of euthanasia is defined, its history and confrontacion with religious views and views of medical associations. In the conclusion of the theoretical part, a problem of hospice movement and dignified end of life is outlined. The target of this thesis is to find out how much people are familiarised with the topics of euthanasia, hospice, dying, palliative care and to learn out their opinion of this problem. Since we attribute death and dying to advanced age, older seniors at the age of 51 and more were chosen as the respondents who answered 18 questions in a questionare investigation. Their answers are processed in the empirical part of this thesis.
