Postural instability and its complications in patients with Parkinson's disease

Abstract:

Předmětem této práce je sledování výskytu pádů a rovnovážných schopností u mužů a žen s Parkinsonovou chorobou. Poruchami rovnovážných funkcí, jejichž následkem jsou pády, se projevuje posturální instabilita, která velmi obtěžuje nemocné s Parkinsonovou nemocí v pozdějších stádiích tohoto onemocnění. Posturální instabilita je příznak, který jen velmi málo reaguje na léčbu. V teoretické části práce se věnuji Parkinsonově nemoci, její historii, patogenezi, etiologii a epidemiologii. Dále práce popisuje funkční anatomii extrapyramidového systému, diagnostiku, klinický obraz a léčbu Parkinsonovy nemoci. V praktické části se zabývám existencí rozdílů ve výskytu pádů u mužů a žen s Parkinsonovou chorobou a existencí rozdílů v rovnovážných schopnostech u mužů a žen s Parkinsonovou chorobou. Výzkum byl prováděn pomocí nestandardizovaného dotazníku a také byla využita škála a testy hodnotící rovnovážné funkce u nemocných s Parkinsonovou chorobou. Ve výzkumné části jsem sebraná data zpracovala, popsala metodiku a na jejich základě jsem vypracovala závěr, jestli existují rozdíly ve výskytu pádu u mužů a žen s Parkinsonovou nemocí a rozdíly v rovnovážných schopnostech u mužů a žen s Parkinsonovou nemocí.

Abstract:

The object of this work is to monitor the occurrence of falls and the equilibrium capacity of men and women suffering from Parkinson´s disease. Disorders of the equilibrium functions, which result in falls, are connected with postural instability which really bothers patients with Parkinson´s disease in later stages of this disease. Postural instability is a symptom that reacts to treatment very little. The theoretical part focuses on Parkinson´s disease, its history, pathogenesis, etiology and epidemiology. Then the thesis describes the functional anatomy of the extrapyramidal system, diagnosis, clinical features and treatment of Parkinson´s disease. The practical part describes the existence of differences in occurrence of falls of men and women with Parkinson´s disease and the existence of differences in balance abilities of men and women suffering from Parkinson´s disease. The research was carried out by using non-standardized questionnaire and a range of tests evaluating balance function of patients with Parkinson´s disease. In the research, I have processed the collected data, described the methodology and on their basis I made a conclusion whether the differences in occurrence of falls of men and women suffering from Parkinson?s disease and differences of the equilibrium abilities of men and women suffering from Parkinson?s disease exist.
