Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the impacts of cybersecurity breaches on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), focusing on both the operational disruptions and financial impacts these businesses face. The goal of this research is to identify common cyberattacks that target SMEs and the vulnerabilities that make them particularly susceptible, analyse impacts of breaches, and propose a framework for data protection. In the theoretical part, the thesis reviews existing literature and analyses case studies of real-world cybersecurity incidents affecting SMEs, providing insight into the challenges they encounter. The practical part uses this knowledge by developing a strategy to protect the private data of SMEs and reduce the economic consequences of potential breaches. This study offers practical recommendations to help SMEs strengthen their cybersecurity measures and better navigate the growing threat of cyberattacks.
