Business Analysis in the Agile Environment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na téma business analýzy v agilním prostření. Práce navrhuje části metodické pomůcky pro business a IT analytiky začínající v prostředí řídící se agilními metodami se zaměřením na prostředí velkých organizací a je rozdělená do dvou hlavních částí. Teoretická část se na začátku věnuje vymezení základních pojmů a popisu podstaty agilních přístupů se zvláštní pozorností věnovanou agilní metodice Scrum s přihlédnutím k její realizaci v korporátním prostředí velké banky. Závěr teoretické části je věnován popisu role business analytika v agilním prostředí takové organizace a popisu vybraných nástrojů, které může business analytik v agilním prostředí používat při sběru požadavků. Druhá část práce je věnována nejprve popisu kontextu pozorované organizace, aby dále mohly být popsány rozdíly pozorované praxe vůči teoretickým poznatkům. V této části jsou také pro jednotlivé role agilního týmu uvedena konkrétní doporučení. Praktická část je zakončena návrhem částí metodické pomůcky pro business analytiky, kteří se ocitnou v nově vzniklém agilním týmu velké organizace. Hlavním přínosem práce je obohacení metodiky Scrum o konkrétní postupy a doporučení. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty klíčové poznatky a možnosti dalšího rozvoje práce.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on the business analysis in the agile environment. This paper`s objective is to suggest parts of methodology extensions for business and IT analysts who start working in the environment led by agile methods focusing on large organizations. The thesis is divided into two main sections. The beginning of the theoretical section is dedicated to definition of basic concepts and the description of the essence of agile approaches with a special attention paid to the Scrum agile methodology, taking into account its realization in the corporate environment of a huge bank. The closing part of the theoretical section is dedicated to the description of the role of a business analyst in the agile environment of such an organization and a characterization of chosen tools that could be used by a business analyst during the collection of requests. The second section of the thesis is focusing firstly on description of the observed organization so that the differences of the observed practice and the theoretical knowledge could be further described. Specific recommendations for individual roles of the agile team are included in this section as well. The practical section is ended by the proposal of parts of the methodical tool for business analysts who will be part of a newly created agile team in a huge organization. The main benefit of this thesis is the enrichment of the Scrum methodology by specific procedures and recommendations. This thesis concludes with the summary of key knowledge and possibilities for a further development of the topic.
