Comparison of methods for creating product videos using 3D graphics or video production

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje tvorbu produktového videa, propagujícího chytré hodinky, pomocí metody 3D animace nebo natáčení s reálným produktem. Cílem práce je realizovat dvě totožná, resp. co nejvíce sobě podobná videa, ale každé video realizovat zcela odlišnou metodou, obě tyto metody následně analyzovat a zjistit, která z metod byla k vypracování daného produktového videa výhodnější. První video bude od počátku do konce tvořeno na počítači, pomocí programu Cinema 4D a druhé bude tvořeno pomocí digitální kamery a hmotného produktu. V teoretické části této práce se autorka věnuje základním principům tvorby 3D grafiky a animace. Zmiňuje také využití 3D technologie v dnešním světě a jaké jsou dostupné programy k její tvorbě. Dále se v této části čtenář dočte o technice potřebné k natáčení, důležitých pravidlech kompozice nebo základních pilířích produktového videa. Praktická část se věnuje naplnění cílů a ověření hypotézy. Dojde během ní k vytvoření dvou produktových videí, propagujících stejný produkt, tedy chytré hodinky. Každé video vzniklo za pomoci jiné metody a autorka se snažila o co největší podobnost obou výstupů. Během tvorby videí si autorka dělala záznamy o časové i finanční náročnosti a ty využila posléze během analýzy. Samotná analýza byla rozdělena do dvou částí. V první části autorka spočítala a porovnala ekonomické náklady na tvorbu videí, zde zjistila že cenově výhodnější je zpracování videa metodou 3D animace. Ve druhé části analýzy zjišťovala autorka názory respondentů pomocí dotazníkového šetření. Výsledné zjištění bylo takové, že většina respondentů preferovala video vypracované za pomoci 3D animace. Na základě těchto zjištění autorka potvrdila předem stanovenou hypotézu o tom, že k vypracování tohoto produktového videa bude výhodnější využít metody 3D animace.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis analyzes the creation of a product video promoting a smart watch, using the method of 3D animation or filming with real product. The aim of the thesis is to create two identical or as similar as possible videos, but realize each of them using a completely different method, then analyze both of these methods to determine which one was more advantageous in creating the product video. The first video will be entirely created on the computer using Cinema 4D program, while the second will be created using a digital camera and a physical product. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the author focuses on the basic principles of 3D graphics and animation. The author also mentions the use of 3D technology in today's world and the available programs for its creation. Additionally, readers will learn about the technique required for filming, important composition rules, and the basic pillars of a product video. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to the fulfillment of the objectives and the verification of the hypothesis. During it, two product videos promoting the same product, smart watches, were created. Each video was created using a different method, with the author attempting to make the two outputs as similar as possible. During the creation of the videos, the author recorded the time and financial requirements, which were then used in the analysis. The analysis itself was divided into two parts. In the first part, the author calculated and compared the economic costs of creating the videos, finding that the 3D animation method was more cost-effective. In the second part of the analysis, the author surveyed respondents to gather their opinions. The results showed that the majority of respondents preferred the video developed using 3D animation. Based on these findings, the author confirmed the predetermined hypothesis that utilizing 3D animation would be more advantageous in the production of this product video.
