Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem bakalářské práce bylo zjistit, jak vnímá veřejnost muže v roli všeobecné sestry a z jakého důvodu si muži vybírají obor všeobecná sestra, jaká je jejich motivace k výkonu tohoto povolání a jestli jsou se svým výběrem spokojeni. Metodika: Průzkumný soubor byl tvořen 163 osobami ve věku od 18 do 75 let, které vyplnily standardizovaný dotazník v době od prosince 2012 do února 2013. Dále byl průzkum tvořen muži ? všeobecnými sestrami, nebo muži ? připravujícími se na toto povolání. Tento průzkum byl prováděn formou řízeného rozhovoru v lednu 2013. Výsledky: Šetřením bylo zjištěno, že veřejnost nevidí rozdíly mezi všeobecnou sestrou ? mužem, a všeobecnou sestrou ? ženou, a většina lidí by dokonce uvítala, kdyby bylo více mužů v tomto povolání. Dále bylo zjištěno, že muži si toto povolání vybírají zejména z toho důvodu, že chtějí pomáhat lidem. Ve svém povolání jsou spokojeni. Závěr: Veřejnost obecně nevnímá rozdílně muže a ženy ? všeobecné sestry, avšak problémem je, že pacienti muže v tomto povolání neumějí oslovit nebo spíše nevědí jak je oslovovat. Pacienti často mylně považují muže ? všeobecnou sestru za lékaře, proto by byla vhodná lepší informovanost ze strany zdravotnického personálu.

Abstract:

Objective: The object of my Bachelor thesis was to find out, how is a male in the role of a nurse viewed by the public. Next I wanted to research what is the men´s reason for choosing the nurse - profession, what is their motivation to pursue this job and finally if they are satisfied with the choice. Methods: The exploratory sample consisted of 163 persons aged 18-75 years who completed a standardized questionnaire in the period from December 2012 to February 2013. In addition, the survey was made up of male general nurses or men preparing for the profession. This survey was conducted in the form of a guided interview in January 2013. Results: The investigation revealed that the public does not see the difference between nurse - a male and a nurse - a female, and most people would even like to see more men doing this profession. Furthermore, it was found that men chose this profession mainly because they want to help people. They are happy with their job. Conclusions: The public generally doesn´t perceive men and women ? nursesdifferently, but the problem is that patients cannot call the male nurses or more likely they do not know how to address them. Patients often mistakenly consider a male nurse for a doctor. For that reason a better awareness on the part of medical staff would be appropriate.
