Selected psychometric analyses of the Bourdon attention test

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo psychometricky popsat fungování a vztahy uvnitř Bourdonova testu pozornosti. Teoretická část je rozdělena na dvě poloviny. První část je věnová teoretické podstatě Bourdonova testu a druhá obsahuje systematickou rešerši studií, které metodu využívají. Velká část práce spočívá v odhadech reliability dvou výkonových skórů – Počtu zodpovězených podnětů (kvantitativní výkon) a Chybovosti (kvalitativní výkon). Kvantitativní skór je odhadován pomocí Cronbachovo alfy jakožto ukazatele vnitřní konzistence metody. Na reliabilitu kvalitativního skóru je potom usuzováno prostřednictvím g-studie teorie zobecnitelnosti. Mezi další části patří tvorba percentilových norem pomocí kernelové kumulativně distribuční funkce, analýza vztahu mezi ukazateli výkonu a analýzy vztahů mezi věkem i pohlavím respondentů a ukazateli výkonu. Práce je založena na sekundární analýze dat získaných z praxe klinického psychologa. Data byla sbírána mezi léty 2009 a 2017. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 299 respondentů (253 můžu a 46 žen) ve věku 16 až 92 let, kterým byl Bourdonův test administrován nejčastěji v rámci dopravně psychologického vyšetření. Výsledky ukázaly, že metoda je vysoce reliabilní v obou svých ukazatelích výkonu, s výjimkou kvalitativního skóru v obrazovkách. Vztah mezi ukazateli byl popisován pomocí polynomické regrese, ze které nevyplynul jasný závěr. Vztah mezi věkem a ukazateli výkonu nebyl nalezen. Podobně tomu bylo i se vztahem pohlaví a ukazateli výkonu. Výsledky práce byly použity pro tvorbu „kalkulačky“, která by měla administrátorům usnadnit interpretaci skórů získaných v Bourdonově testu.

Abstract:

The aim of the study was to describe functioning and relationships within Bourdon test of attention using psychometric analyses. Theoretical part of the work is based on describing attention, which is supposed to be measured by the test and it also contains a systematic review of studies that use Bourdon test. Major part of the work lies on estimating reliability of the two performance indicators – Number of answered items (quantitative) and Error rate (qualitative). Quantitative score is estimated using Cronbach’s alfa as the indicator of the internal consistency. Reliability of the qualitative score is inferred from the generalizability theory. Another parts of the work consist of creating percentile scores using kernel cumulative distribution function and analysis of the relationships between performance indicators, performance indicators and age and finally performance indicators and gender. Study is based on the secondary analysis of data retrieved from the practice of czech clinical psychologist. The data were collected between the years of 2009 and 2017. The sample consisted of 299 participants (253 men and 46 women) aged 16-92. Results showed that the method is highly reliable in both performance indicators, except the qualitative performace in the screens. Relationship between performance indicators was described using polynomial regression, which did not show clear patters. Relationship between age and performace indicators was not found. The same goes for the relation-ships betweern gender and performace indicators. Results were used to create Microsoft Excel calculator, which is supposed to make interpretation of the scores obtained in the Bourdon test easier.
