Aquatic invertebrates of the European Important Site Cihelna Kunín

Abstract:

Člověk svou činností významně ovlivňuje krajinu. Častým důsledkem však bývá ztráta řady přirozených stanovišť a mnohých živočichů. Velký a drastický zásah do krajiny představuje těžba surovin, která značně mění strukturu a vlastnosti okolní krajiny. Po ukončení těžby však těžebny (tzv. postindustriální lokality) poskytují jedinečnou příležitost pro ekologickou obnovu. Postindustriální lokality se tak mohou stát náhradními stanovišti pro řadu živočichů, obzvláště pro ohrožené a chráněné druhy vázané na specifické biotopy, které z dnešní krajiny postupně mizí. Postindustriální lokality jsou obnovovány buď technickou rekultivací nebo přirozenou či řízenou sukcesí. Technická rekultivace je mnohdy nevhodná a snižuje ochranářský potenciál lokalit, naopak obnova přirozenou či řízenou sukcesí vede k jedinečným biotopům s druhově bohatými společenstvy. Tato práce se v praktické části zaměřila především na biomonitoring vodních bezobratlých evropsky významné lokality Cihelna Kunín, která je obnovována řízenou sukcesí. Biomonitoring vodních bezobratlých zatím na lokalitě neodhalil ohrožené nebo chráněné druhy bezobratlých, byly však nalezeny ohrožené a chráněné druhy obojživelníků. Lokalita tak může mít aktuálně význam zejména pro obojživelníky, je však zapotřebí další management a pokračující monitoring aby byl zjištěn a naplněn potenciál lokality.

Abstract:

Human activity has a significant impact on the environment, which often results in loss of natural habitats for many animals. An impactful and drastic anthropogenic activity is mining, which significantly changes the structure and properties of the surrounding landscape. However, after the completion of mining, mining sites (or post-industrial sites) offer a unique opportunity for ecological restoration. Post-industrial sites have the potential to become secondary habitats for a large number of species, especially rare or endangered species bound to specific habitats which are slowly disappearing from the current landscape. Post-industrial sites can be restored in two ways: either by technical reclamation or by spontaneous or controlled succession. Technical reclamation is often inadequate and lowers the site's conservational potential. On the other hand, restoration using spontaneous or controlled succession leads to unique habitats with species-rich communities. In the practical part, this thesis focuses on biomonitoring of aquatic invertebrates of the European Important Site Cihelna Kunín, which is being restored by controlled succession. The biomonitoring of aquatic invertebrates did not reveal any rare or endangered species of aquatic invertebrates. However, two species of rare and endangered species of amphibians have been found. This indicates that the site can be especially significant and favourable for amphibians, however further management and monitoring is required to assess and achieve the full potential of this site.
