Historical development of immigration and immigratory policy in the Netherlands since the 1960s of the 20th century till present

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá historickým vývojem imigrace, integrace a souvisejících politik v Nizozemsku, v období od počátku 60. let 20. století do současnosti. Na začátku se krátce zmiňuji také o základních aspektech koloniální historie země a jejího vývoje bezprostředně po skončení 2. SV. Cílem je nejen charakteristika jednotlivých etap nizozemské imigrace a imigračních a integračních politik, zachycení základních událostí a mezníků, ale také pohled na politický vývoj v zemi i světové události, které měly na zkoumanou problematiku dopad. Imigrační procesy této západoevropské země prochází dlouhodobým vývojem a mnoha zvraty. A také aktuální situace není výjimkou. V kapitole věnující se aktuálnímu dění se zabývám, vedle politického vývoje a jeho dopadu na oblast imigrace, především událostmi provázející uveřejnění snímku Fitna, autora Geerta Wilderse. Na konci práce je součástí přehled geografického původu imigrantů žijících v Nizozemsku.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the historical development of immigration, integration and related policies in the Netherlands, in the period since the 1960s of the 20th century till present. At the beginning there is a short insight into the basic aspects of the colonial history of the Netherlands and its development immediately after the World War Two. The purpose of my work is not only the characteristic of the dutch immigration, immigratory and integration policies, the interception of basic events and goals, but also the insight into the political development in the Netherlads and world events, which have affected dutch immigration. Immigratory processes of this Western European country go through a secular trend and deal with a lot of reversions. And also the actual situation is not an exception. In the chapter about actual events I deal with Geert Wilder´s film Fitna and related events and also with the political development and its impact on the area of immigration. At the end there is a summary of geographical origin of the immigrants living in the Netherlands.
