Is the development of Frýdek-Místek in the period 1990-2014 sustainable?

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je kriticky zhodnotit rozvoj města Frýdku-Místku v období 1990-2014 v kontextu konceptu udržitelného rozvoje města. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. V teoretické části práce je nejprve obecně charakterizován koncept udržitelného rozvoje. Popsán je zde vznik, vývoj a vymezení pojmu udržitelný rozvoj, dále jednotlivé pilíře udržitelnosti a základní dokument, v němž jsou principy udržitelnosti zakotveny. Druhá kapitola teoretické části se pak s ohledem na téma bakalářské práce věnuje speciálně problematice udržitelného rozvoje na místní úrovni. Jsou zde stručně popsány dva tradiční přístupy k rozvoji měst a program Místní Agendy 21, prosazující principy udržitelnosti na místní úrovni. Zvláštní pozornost je pak věnována konceptu udržitelného rozvoje měst. V empirické části práci je nejprve popsána stručná charakteristika města Frýdek-Místek. V dalších kapitolách je poté na základě analýzy jednotlivých rozvojových oblastí zkoumán přístup vedení města k problematice udržitelného rozvoje. Empirická část práce je primárně zaměřena na zhodnocení environmentálního pilíře udržitelného rozvoje.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to critically evaluate the development of the city Frýdek-Místek in period 1990-2014 in the context of the sustainable urban development. The bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts. In the theoretical part of the work is at first generally characterized the concept of sustainable development. There is described the creation, development and definition of the concept of sustainable development, as well as individual pillars of sustainability and the basic document, in which are the principles of sustainability embedded. The second chapter of the theoretical part is then, with regard to the topic of the bachelor thesis, dedicated specifically to the issue of sustainable development at the local level. There are briefly described the two traditional approaches to the urban development and the programme of Local Agenda 21, promoting the principles of sustainability at the local level. Special attention is then paid to the concept of sustainable urban development. In the empirical part of the work is at first described the geographic and sociodemografic characteristics of the city Frydek-Mistek. In the following chapters is then, based on the analysis of individual development areas, studied the attitude of the city management to the issue of sustainable development. The empirical part of the work is focused primarily on the assessment of the environmental pillar of sustainable development.
