Psychosocial impacts of Atopic Dermatitis.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá psychosociálními dopady atopického ekzému. U pacientů s tímto onemocněním konkrétně zjišťuje kvalitu jejich života, sklon k depresivitě a úzkostem v porovnání s kontrolní skupinou zdravých jedinců. Na základě teoretických poznatků je předpokládána korelace mezi pacientovým vnímáním nemoci a psychosociálními dopady. Část teoretická se blíže zabývá nejen atopickým ekzémem samotným, jeho definicí a léčbou, ale také psychosomatikou tohoto chronického onemocnění a jeho vlivem na život pacientů. Empirická část popisuje výzkumný vzorek a shrnuje výsledky zjištěné tímto šetřením. Výzkum probíhal od března do dubna 2019 a zúčastnilo se jej 225 respondentů, z toho se jednalo o 142 pacientů s atopickým ekzémem a 83 zdravých jedinců bez dermatologického onemocnění. Byl zjištěn statisticky významný vliv přítomnosti atopického ekzému na psychosociální dopady respondentů a zároveň byla také potvrzena korelace mezi těmito konsekvencemi a pacientovým vnímáním nemoci.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on psychosocial impacts of atopic eczema. Its goal is to find out what the quality of life of patients with this disease is, how high the tendency to depression and anxiety is, compared with a control group of healthy individuals. Based on a theoretical knowledge a correlation is assumed between patient’s perception of the disease and psychosocial impacts. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses closely on atopic eczema itself, its definition and its treatment, and also on psychosomatics of this chronic disease and its influence on patients‘ lives. The empirical part describes a research sample and summarizes results found by this research. The research took place from March to April 2019 and 225 respondents took part in it. Out of the 225 respondents, 142 were patients with atopic eczema and 83 were healthy individuals without any dermatological disease. The research found statistically significant influence of the disease on psychosocial impact and also a correlation was found between these consequences and patient’s perception of the disease.
