The use of Armeo system in occupational therapy interventions when treating upper limb with neurological deficits

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem využití robotického přístroje Armeo v rámci ergoterapeutické intervence. V teoretické části se zaměřuje na centrální parézu, cévní mozkovou příhodu, neurorehabilitaci a ergoterapii u pacientů po cévní mozkové příhodě, robotická terapie a informace o konceptu Armeo Therapy. V praktické části bylo cílem zjistit, zda využití Armea v rámci ergoterapeutické intervence u pacientů po cévní mozkové příhodě je efektivní pro zlepšení motoriky a funkční hybnosti postižené horní končetiny, tím navýšení zapojování horní končetiny do aktivit denního života a díky tomu dosažení maximální soběstačnosti. K zjištění cíle byli po dobu deseti dnů sledováni a hodnoceni dva pacienti po cévní mozkové příhodě, u kterých byla v rámci intervence indikována terapie s využitím přístroje Armeo. Na základě získaných informací, zhodnocení a z nabytých zkušeností bylo zjištěno, že přístroj Armeo má pozitivní vliv na motorické funkce postižené horní končetiny, ale nelze zcela s jistotou potvrdit, že přispívá k dosažení maximální soběstačnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis explores the use of Armeo system in occupational therapy interventions when treating upper limb with neuological deficits. The theoretical part focuses on the topics of central paresis, stroke, neurorehabilitation and occupational therapy in patients after stroke, robotic therapy and information about the concept of Armeo Therapy. In the practical part, the aim was to confirm whether applying the Armeo Therapy as part of occupational interventions when working with patiens after stroke would improve motor skills and functional mobility of upper limb with central paresis. Furthermore, the thesis explores that this intervention increases the involment of the upper limb into activities of daily living and maximise the independence. To determinate the goal, two patiens after stroke were monitored and evaluated for 10 days. Based on gain information and experience it was found that Armeo system has a positive effect on the motor functions of the affected upper limb, but it cannot be confirmed with certainty that it contributes to maximise the independence.
