Alzheimerova choroba (AD) patří mezi nejčastější příčiny demence u starších lidí. Je charakterizována postupným zhoršováním kognitivních funkcí (především paměti), řeči a dalších psychických funkcí. Hlavními patologickými rysy AD jsou vznik senilních plaků a neurofibrilárních klubek (NFTs) v mozku, ztráta neuronů a synapsí, atrofie mozku. Abstract:
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of the dementia in the elderly. It is characterized by progressive decline of cognitive functions (especially memory), language, and other psychical functions. The main pathologic features are formation of senile plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) in the brain, neuronal and synaptic loss, cerebral atrophy.
