Use of ICT support in the system for student´s records

Abstract:

Tato práce si pokládá za cíl přiblížit čtenáři využití ICT podpory v systému evidence studentů na vysokých školách. Na začátku práce je popsáno využití informačních systémů spolu s výhodami a úskalími, která může jejich implementace s sebou přinést. V práci jsou dále vybrány a přiblíženy dva konkrétní informační systémy IS/STAG a Unicorn Universe Operating System, nad kterým je dnes provozována služba Plus4U. V praktické části se práce podrobně zabývá studijním informačním systémem používaným na vysoké škole Unicorn College, který je postaven na platformě systému Unicorn Universe Operating System. V této části je podrobně popsáno rozšíření a automatizace systému, vyplývající z implementace dvou aplikací v akademickém roce 2013/2014. Konkrétně se jedná o automatizaci procesů spojenými s uznáním předmětu, správou zkouškových termínů a přihlašováním na ně. Na závěr jsou shrnuty výhody a časové úspory plynoucí z implementace obou aplikací, dále je zde návrh pro případné budoucí rozšíření systému na vysoké Unicorn College.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to look into the issue of using information and communication technologies for the purpose of student´s records management in the higher educational institutions. The thesis is primarily focused on student´s information systems, particularly IS/STAG and Unicorn Universe Operating System. The thesis first provides an overview of the issue in general, which investigates the purpose, benefits and risks associated with ICT implementation. Subsequently, IS/STAG and Unicorn Universe Operating System are presented and briefly summarized, especially from the user´s point of view. The second part of the thesis is focused on the expansion of student´s information system in Unicorn College. Two applications, which automatize the processes related to the exam term and the subject exemption, have been recently implemented in this system. In conclusion, the thesis defines evaluation and benefits of the implementation. Finally, it makes suggestion for future expansions of the system in Unicorn College.
