Abstract:

Disertační práce analyzuje finanční riziko a specifika jeho řízení při financování investic prostřednictvím leasingu, identifikuje některé unikátní vlastnosti finančního leasingu a také možnosti, které využití leasingového financování přináší příjemcům leasingu. Leasingové financování je v určitých ohledech jedinečné, zejména tím, že financovaný předmět zůstává po celou dobu trvání smluvního vztahu ve vlastnictví poskytovatele financování, tedy leasingové společnosti. To umožňuje - při správném pochopení a využití výhod leasingu - dosáhnout výrazně nižší míry úvěrového a tedy i celkového finančního rizika (ve srovnání s bankovním úvěrem). Je ukázáno, že úvěrové riziko leasingové společnosti může s nárůstem angažovanosti u jednoho klienta (příjemce leasingu) být za určitých podmínek nerostoucí nebo dokonce klesající. To je možné díky krytí stávajícími (dříve financovanými) předměty vhodného druhu a při vhodném rozložení investic v čase. Díky nižšímu úvěrovému riziku jsou leasingové společnosti schopny a ochotny splnit i takové požadavky na financování ze strany výrobních či obchodních podniků, které by pro jiné poskytovatele resp. metody financování byly nepřijatelné. Leasing tak nabízí za splnění příslušných podmínek řešení požadavků podniků na financování, které by jinak nebylo možno realizovat.

Abstract:

This dissertation aims to analyse the financial risk, and specific features of its management, arising from financing of corporate investments through leasing. Further it identifies several unique characteristics of financial leasing and some of the possibilities, which financial leasing offers to lessees. In some aspects, leasing is a unique type of financing, especially because the leasing provider retains the ownership right to the financed object throughout the entire lease. This enables to achieve a significantly lower degree of credit risk and therefore also of the total financial risk (compared to financing through bank loans). The dissertation shows that if some further conditions are met, then while the leasing provider’s credit exposure to a single lessee increases, the provider’s credit risk to that lessee can be non-increasing or even decreasing. This is possible due to the additional coverage obtained from the assets financed previously, if the leasing investments of the lessee are well distributed in time. Due to the lower credit risk, leasing providers are able and ready to meet even such investment needs of manufacturing or trading companies, for which the usual bank loans or other types of financing would be unavailable (too risky). In some situations, leasing is the only realistic way for companies to finance their new investments and can thus be essential for their expansion or even for a mere survival.
