Abstract:

Práce se pokouší představit náboženský život současné čínské společnosti a reakci na něj v podobě náboženské politiky vlády Čínské lidové republiky. Sleduje vývoj od ekonomických reforem konce sedmdesátých let 20. století až po současnost. Výchozím bodem pro analýzu náboženské politiky soudobého čínského státu je pochopení optiky, jíž se jeho reprezentace na náboženství dívá a nástrojů, které následně pro zacházení s náboženskými projevy vlastní společnosti používá. Ty vycházejí z terminologického a teoretické ukotvení konceptu náboženství v moderní čínské společnosti a z historie vztahu čínského státu k náboženství od jeho historických počátků až po současnost. V první části práce proto autor představuje původ konceptu náboženství (zongjiao), který je pro tradiční čínskou kulturu a společnost neznámý a který má svůj původ v moderním myšlení kulturně vzdálené Evropy. Druhá část práce analyzuje zdroje a podoby čínské náboženské politiky. Práce dále představuje komplexní škálu přístupů, které současný čínský stát aplikuje na náboženský život vlastní společnosti. Příklady jednotlivých přístupů jsou demonstrovány při popisu náboženské situace dnešní Číny. Autor vytvořil vlastní kategorizační systém, který by měl usnadnit pochopení odlišného vztahu čínského státu k různým formám náboženství v soudobé čínské společnosti. Na základě vymezení tzv. lokálních a globálních náboženských tradic je popsáno a analyzováno několik zajímavých náboženských fenoménů a trendů poreformní Číny od obnovy rodinného kultu předků přes rekonstrukci „politických kultů“ legendárních čínských císařů až po rozvoj podzemních protestantských církví. Globální a lokální množina čínských náboženství svým prolínáním dokazuje problematičnost konstrukce umělých termínů a kategorií. Ta je přitom pro reflexi komplikované čínské náboženské reality typická a pro čínskou společnost z hlediska aplikace náboženské politiky ČLR, na těchto konstrukcích vystavěné, fatální.

Abstract:

This thesis attempts to introduce religious life in contemporary Chinese society and to describe governmental religious policy responding to the current situation in the People's Republic of China. It observes processes that were started by economic reforms of late 1970’s and have been developing up to the present days. The analysis of contemporary religious policy needs some pre-understanding. First of all, the ways Chinese representation approaches and handles religion have to be explained and comprehended. Those ways are rooted in the concept of religion, as it had been terminologically and theoretically established in modern Chinese society, and in the history of the relation between Chinese state and religion. In the first part of this thesis, the author presents origins of the concept of religion (zongjiao) in Chinese reality. The origins are found in European modern thinking and therefore, they encompass different cultural and structural patterns which were unknown to the traditional Chinese culture and society. Applying this concept in Chinese society is thus proved to be non-functional. The second part of the thesis analyzes the sources and forms of Chinese religious policy. It includes a comprehensive set of approaches that are applied by contemporary Chinese state. Examples of different approaches are demonstrated in a description of religious situation in China today. The author created his own categorization system that should facilitate understanding of varying relationship between Chinese government and individual forms of religious expressions in contemporary Chinese society. Based on this differentiation between local and global religious traditions, some interesting religious phenomena and trends of post-reform China are described and interpreted. Those phenomena include e.g. restoration of ancestor cult practiced in families, "political cult" reconstruction in the case of legendary Chinese emperors and development of underground Protestant churches. The use of global and local categories emphasizes malfunctions of artificial intellectual constructs and categories. As artificial categorizations are typical for the history of understanding and handling “religion” in Chinese society, their influence has to be understood as being a crucial factor in religious policy of PRC and a vital problem for the society itself.
