The impact of immigration from third countries on the labor market in Sweden

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá způsobem, jakým se imigranti ze třetích zemí dostávají na pracovní trh ve Švédsku a jak svými předpoklady a působením ovlivňují pracovní trh této hostitelské země. V první kapitole je představena základní terminologie vztahující se k migraci a přehled dosavadního výzkumu v oblasti imigrace a jejího vlivu na trh práce v hostitelské zemi. Druhá kapitola se věnuje vývoji legislativního rámce Evropské unie a Švédska ve vztahu k imigrační a integrační politice, vymezuje skupiny imigrantů přicházejících do hostitelské země a zkoumá, jakým způsobem se imigranti ze třetích zemí dostávají na pracovní trh ve Švédsku. Třetí kapitola má praktický charakter, na základě předchozích zjištění určuje konkrétní dopady imigrace ze třetích zemí na švédský pracovní trh – na nezaměstnanost a pracovní příležitosti domácích obyvatel prostřednictvím analýzy dosaženého vzdělání, statusu a země původu imigrantů ze třetích zemí. Dále analyzuje pozitivní externality migrace a dopady na mzdy domácích obyvatel.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis examines the way in which third-country immigrants enter the labour market in Sweden and how they affects the labour market in the host country. The first chapter introduces basic terminology related to migration and reviews existing research on immigration and its impact on the host country labour market. The second chapter examines the development of the legislative framework of the European Union and Sweden in relation to immigration and integration policy, defines the groups of immigrants arriving in the host country and examines how third-country immigrants enter the labour market in Sweden. The third chapter has practical character resulting from previous findings to identify the specific impacts of third-country immigration on the Swedish labour market - on unemployment and job opportunities for the native population through an analysis of the educational attainment, status and country of origin of third-country immigrants. It also analyses the positive externalities of migration and the effects on the wages of the native population.
