Art Expression as a Tool for Understanding Children and Youth with Conduct Disorders

Abstract:

Disertační práce s názvem Výtvarný projev jako nástroj k poznání dětí a mládeže s poruchou chování je rozdělena na teoretickou a výzkumnou část. První část práce zahrnuje pojmy spojené s problémovým chováním dětí a mladistvých, dále teoretické informace související s výtvarnou tvorbou, kresebným projevem, symboly v artefaktu a arteterapii. Obsahem druhé části disertační práce je smíšený výzkum, jehož cíle a metody jsou směřovány k poznání tvůrčích procesů a výsledných produktů klientů s nařízenou ústavní výchovou. Výzkumné otázky a hypotézy jsou zaměřeny na klientův postoj ke kresbě, na jeho způsob zpracování kresby a jsou formulovány způsobem, který umožňuje identifikovat a prozkoumat obsah kresebných projevů klientů, tzn. kresebné znaky, tahy, tlak, tempo, symboly, a odraz jejich duševního stavu, vzpomínek, zkušeností, přání a hodnot. Ve výzkumu je důležitost přikládána následujícím aspektům, které významně ovlivňují proces tvorby klientů: situace před tvorbou, adekvátní motivace a koncentrace, vztahy mezi vychovateli a klienty, přístup vychovatelů ke klientům. Nad rámec výzkumu je v tomto textu pojednáno i o výtvarných projevech jedinců, kteří se dopouštějí trestné činnosti. Disertace prezentuje výtvarné práce nejenom od dětí a mladistvých s problematickým chováním a nabízí jejich interpretace.

Abstract:

Dissertation thesis entitled Art Expression as a Tool for Understanding Children and Youth with Conduct Disorders is divided into the theoretical and research part. The first part of the thesis includes concepts related to the problematic behaviour in children and adolescents, theoretical information related to art creation, drawing expression, artefact symbols and art-therapy. The content of the second part of the dissertation thesis is mixed research, whereby the objectives and methods are directed towards learning the creative processes and the resulting products of clients with compulsory institutional education. The research questions and hypotheses are focused on the client's attitude towards drawing, their drawing methods and they are formulated in a way that allows to identify and explore the content of the client's drawing expressions, i.e. drawing signs, strokes, pressure, tempo, symbols and reflection of their mental state, memories, experiences, desires and values. In the research, the importance is attached to the following aspects that significantly influence the client’s creation process: situation before creation, adequate motivation and concentration, relations between educators and clients, approach of educators to clients. Above the scope of the research, this paper also deals with artistic expressions of individuals who commit crimes. The dissertation thesis also presents artwork from children and adolescents with problematic behaviour and offers their interpretation.
