The History of Czech Post-War Structuralism

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je popsat osudy českého poválečného strukturalismu, který je u nás prezentován Pražským lingvistickým kroužkem. Po nástupu komunismu k moci je Pražský lingvistický kroužek sice oficiálně zrušen, ale na myšlenky českého strukturalismu se navazuje i v marxistické lingvistice. Velkou zásluhu na tom má především Bohuslav Havránek, jeden ze zakládajících členů Pražského lingvistického kroužku, protože po válce aplikuje některé z jeho tezí. Po sametové revoluci je Pražský lingvistický kroužek obnoven a ukazuje se, že jeho myšlenky jsou dodnes aktuální.

Abstract:

The aim of the presented study is to depict the fate of czech post-war structuralism, presented by the Prague Linguistic Circle. Communist regime accessing to power meant for the Prague Linguistic Circle to be dissolved, their ideas, however, were resimed in the marxian linguistics. A very important role was played by Bohuslav Havránek, on of the founders of the Prague Linguistic Circle, as he operates with many of their theses after the war. The Prague Linguistic Circle is restored after the velvet revolution and it can be concluded, that its ideas are still living.
