On the Way to United Europe: Comparing the Greek and Turkish Accession Agreements

Abstract:

Evropská integrace a její historie je stále aktuálním tématem, kterým se zabývá tato bakalářská práce s názvem Na cestě do sjednocené Evropy: komparace řecké a turecké přístupové dohody k EHS. Cílem práce byla komparace vývoje snah Řecka a Turecka vstoupit do Evropského hospodářského společenství a jeho nástupnických organizací. Za hlavní přínos této práce lze považovat analýzu a srovnání řecké a turecké přístupové dohody sjednané s Evropským hospodářským společenstvím. Tyto dohody byly základním kamenem budování vztahů těchto států s Evropským hospodářským společenstvím a jeho nástupnickými organizacemi. Je proto důležité zkoumat, jaký vliv mělo naplňování těchto dohod na následné přijetí Řecka do Evropského společenství, a naopak z jakých důvodů nedošlo k přijetí Turecka v časovém horizontu, kterým se bakalářská práce zabývá. Bakalářská práce se opírá o prameny, kterými jsou samotné přístupové dohody, zprávy Evropského parlamentu, Evropské komise, Mezinárodního měnového fondu a rezoluce Organizace spojených národů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis entitled On the Way to United Europe: Comparing the Greek and Turkish Accession Agreements deals with the ever current topic of European integration and its history. The thesis seeks to compare the evolution of Greece and Turkey's efforts to join the European Economic Community and its successor organisations. The main contribution of this thesis is the analysis and comparison of the Greek and Turkish accession agreements negotiated with the European Economic Community. These agreements have been the cornerstone of the building of these countries' relations with the European Economic Community and its successor organisations, and it is therefore important to examine what effect the implementation of these agreements has had on Greece's subsequent entry into the European Community, while Turkey has been prevented from doing so. The thesis uses sources that include the association agreements themselves, reports from the European Parliament, the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and United Nations resolutions.
