Abstract:
The presented diploma thesis deals with various translations of the New Testament into the English Language. These two versions were compared with the aid of the Firbas´s functional sentence perspective theory. The hypothesis specified at the beginning of this study, and thus that the two versions after applying the hereinbefore stated theory, will be semantically alike, was substantiated.

Tato práce se zabývala srovnáním dvou verzí překladu Nového Zákona do anglického jazyka. Wycliffova a Jakubova verze byly porovnány za pomocí Firbasovy funkční větné perspektivy. Na začátku předkládané studie byla stanovena pracovní hypotéza, že obě verze, byť od sebe časově vzdáleny více než 200 let, budou po aplikaci výše zmíněné teorie významově shodné.
