Music Therapy and Children with ADHD

Abstract:

Diplomová práce nese název „Muzikoterapie a děti s ADHD“. V této práci jsem se zaměřila na možnost využití muzikoterapie jako jednoho přístupu k dětem s diagnózou ADHD. Práce je rozčleněna na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část je zaměřená na vymezení pojmů ADHD, a to obecně. Vymezila jsem zde základní pojmy, které souvisejí s osobností jedince se syndromem ADHD. Uvedla jsem legislativu, která upravuje vzdělávání a integraci žáků se syndromem ADHD v České republice. Popsala jsem zde školská poradenská zařízení a možnosti terapeutických přístupů k žákům. Praktická část zahrnuje samostatné výzkumné šetření, kterým jsem zjišťovala úspěšnost muzikoterapie při zklidnění, rozvoji komunikace, paměti a sociálních vztahů u dětí se syndromem ADHD. Dle analýzy výsledků výzkumného šetření, jsem dospěla k závěru, že pro výraznější efekt působení muzikoterapie na děti s ADHD by bylo vhodné muzikoterapii aplikovat několikrát týdně po delší časový úsek, vytvořit skupinu, která se vzájemně nebude rušit, vytvořit vhodné prostředí a velice důležitá je osobnost muzikoterapeuta.

Abstract:

The title of this thesis is “Music Therapy and Children with ADHD”. The work focuses on using music therapy as one of the approaches to children diagnosed with ADHD. The thesis consists of theoretic and practical parts. The theoretic part is directed at defining the terminology of ADHD in general. Here I defined basic terms connected with the personality of an ADHD individual. It also mentions the legislation regulating educating and integration of pupils with ADHD syndrome in the Czech Republic. And finally it describes school counselling facilities and the choice of therapeutic approaches to pupils. The practical part includes my personal research aimed at determining the success of music therapy in developing communication, memory and social relationships as well as calming down the children diagnosed with ADHD syndrome. After analysing the results of the research I arrived at the conclusion that in order to affect the ADHD children more noticeably it would be expedient to apply music therapy several times a week for a longer period, to create a group where the pupils will not disturb one another, and to prepare pleasant environment. The research proved that the personality of the music therapist is very important, too.
