The Price of Speed: Rewarding Workers in the Apparel Industry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu módního průmyslu, s důrazem na problematiku odměňování pracovníků v tomto odvětví. Teoretická část vysvětluje přístupy výroby oděvního průmyslu, jejich příčiny i důsledky na životní prostředí a společnost. Jedním z důsledků je i greenwashing, kterému se věnuje následující kapitola. Současně pojednává o ekologickém paradoxu udržitelnosti. V další kapitole je obecně vysvětlen pojem mzda a způsob odměňování pracovníků módního průmyslu. Úvodní kapitola praktické části je věnována marketingovému výzkumu, konkrétně provedení dotazníkového šetření a vzorku oslovených v celkovém počtu 205. Praktická část odpovídá na výzkumné otázky a spojuje výsledky do souvislostí. Závěrem je rozpracován návrh a doporučení potenciální kampaně.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis delves into an analysis of the fashion industry, with a specific focus on the issues surrounding worker remuneration within this sector. The theoretical section elucidates the manufacturing approaches of the garment industry, exploring their origins and their environmental and societal impacts. A significant consequence, greenwashing, is thoroughly examined in the subsequent chapter. This section also grapples with the ecological paradox inherent in sustainability. Further, the concept of wages and the modalities of compensation in the fashion industry are comprehensively delineated in the following chapter. The initial chapter of the empirical section is dedicated to marketing research, particularly to the execution of a questionnaire survey, encompassing a total of 205 respondents. The empirical section addresses research questions and synthesizes the findings into coherent conclusions. The thesis culminates in the development of a proposal and recommendations for a potential campaign.
