Determinants of cognitive components of student's attitudes toward people with disabilities

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá faktory, které ovlivňují kognitivní složku postojů žáků 4. a 5. tříd vůči osobám se znevýhodněním. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda a jak jednotlivé elementy tyto postoje ovlivňují a to konkrétně se zaměřením na osobní zkušenost žáků s osobami se znevýhodněním, věk žáků a typ školy, ve které jsou vzděláváni. Autorka se v práci zabývá nahlédnutím do vědní disciplíny speciální pedagogiky a z ní vycházejících integrativních a inkluzivních přístupů ve vzdělávání. Věnuje se též vymezení a terminologii předmětu speciální pedagogiky a historickým vývojem postojů společnosti vůči jedincům s postižením. V následující kapitole se podrobněji zabývá postoji, jejich hlavními znaky, složkami, změnami a funkcemi. Teoretická část této práce se také dotýká související legislativy a seznamuje čtenáře s podpůrnými opatřeními a charakteristikou jejich jednotlivých stupňů, jak jsou vymezeny ve vyhlášce ke školskému zákonu. Empirická část této práce popisuje výzkum, který proběhl na základních školách v několika krajích ČR a v němž byly dotazníkovou metodou zkoumány postoje žáků v kognitivní doméně. Závěrečná část práce se věnuje podrobné interpretaci výsledků, diskuzi a doporučením pro další výzkumy.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on factors that influence the cognitive component of attitude of pupils attending the 4th and 5th classes of primary school towards people with disabilities. The aim of the thesis is to determine whether and how individual elements affect these attitudes. Specifically, it concentrates on pupils' personal experience with disabled people, pupils' age and type of school they attend. The author of the thesis draws on the field of special education and the integration and inclusive approaches in education that are derived from this discipline. Next, the author focuses on definition and terminology of disabled person and also on historical development of society's attitudes towards people with disabilities. The next chapter concentrates in detail on attitudes, their main features, components, changes and functions. The theoretical part of this thesis also mentions related legislation and familiarizes readers with supportive measures and characteristics of their individual levels that are defined in the decree implementing the Education Act. The empirical part of this thesis describes the research that was carried out in primary schools in several regions of the Czech Republic. The attitudes of pupils in the cognitive domain were examined by means of a questionnaire survey. The final part of the thesis contains detailed discussion and recommendations for further research.
