The Effect of Changing Relationships Between the U.S.A. and Cuba on Cuban Agriculture

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se snaží odpovědět na hlavní vytyčenou výzkumnou otázku „jaké dopady na kubánské zemědělství má, či případně bude mít uvolňování vztahů mezi USA a Kubou, které započalo 17. prosince 2014“. Pro účel lepšího pochopení kontextu a přiblížení celkové situace na Kubě je v teoretické části stručně popsané území Kuby, její současná situace a život běžných Kubánců. Je uveden i stručný popis historie kubánského zemědělství a historie kubánsko-amerických vztahů. V této části diplomové práce jsou také popsané použité výzkumné metody. V praktické části byla provedena analýza dostupných textů a rozhovorů, pořízených při výzkumné cestě na Kubu, která pomohla odpovědět na všechny vytyčené otázky, které jsou pak rozdělené do jednotlivých okruhů a popsané v kapitolách.

Abstract:

This thesis is trying to answer the main research question “what are the possible impacts on Cuban agriculture caused by the changes in the relations between the United States and Cuba since December 17th 2014”. For the purpose of better understanding the context and situation in today’s Cuba, I briefly described the Cuba's current situation and the living of ordinary Cubans in the theoretical part. I also inserted a brief description of the Cuban agricultural history and the history of Cuban-American relations. In this part of the thesis are also described the used research methods. Later on, in the practical part was conducted the analysis of available texts and the interviews taken during the research trip to Cuba. All that helped out to answer all the research questions, which are divided into individual areas and described in chapters.
