Community-based tourism as an instrument in the development of Carazo region, Nicaragua

Abstract:

Komunitní cestovní ruch se stal velmi populární formou udržitelného cestovního ruchu ve světě, především pak v Latinské Americe. Tato práce vznikla na základě měsíčního pobytu v Nikaragui v září/říjnu 2017 v rámci studijní praxe zprostředko-vané Fakultou regionálního rozvoje a mezinárodních studií Mendelovy univerzity. Cílem této práce bylo zhodnotit předpoklady pro rozvoj komunitního cestovního ruchu v oblasti Finca La Reserva, která se nachází v regionu Carazo. Teoretická část práce se zabývá rurálním rozvojem, udržitelnými formami cestovního ruchu a zejména pak komunitním cestovním ruchem, jeho vznikem, historií a možnostmi rozvoje. Praktická část této práce je tvořena popisnou částí, která charakterizuje zkoumanou oblast z hlediska životních podmínek a z hlediska cestovního ruchu, dále pak obsahuje výsledky analýzy rozhovorů, které byly realizovány s místními lidmi během pobytu v zemi. Celkem bylo analyzováno 16 rozhovorů, a to pomocí metody zakotvené teorie. Výsledkem práce je stanovení předpokladů pro rozvoj komunitní-ho cestovního ruchu a doporučení pro navazující výzkum.

Abstract:

Community-based tourism has become a very popular form of sustainable tourism in the world, especially in Latin America. This thesis was based on one-month study internship in Nicaragua in September/October 2017 organized by the Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies of Mendel University. The aim of this work was to evaluate the prerequisites for the development of community-based tourism in the area of Finca La Reserva, located in the Carazo region. The theoretical part is focused on rural development, sustainable forms of tourism, especially on community-based tourism, its origin, history and possibilities of development. The practical part of the thesis consists of a descriptive part which characterizes the studied area from the point of view of living conditions and tourism, and, also, contains the results of analysis of interviews conducted with the local people during the stay in the country. A total of 16 interviews were analysed using the Grounded theory method. The result of the thesis is to set the prerequisites for the development of community-based tourism and recommendations for a subsequent research.
