Special pedagogical intervention for individuals with mental disabilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá speciálně pedagogickou intervencí u jedinců s mentálním postižením. Práce je tvořena dvěma částmi. Teoretická část ukotvuje poznatky týkající se mentální retardace a mentálního postižení. Zabývá se zejména terminologickým ukotvením a klasifikací mentálního postižení; diagnostikou a diagnostickými nástroji; specifickými zvláštnostmi a narušenou komunikační schopností u jedinců s mentálním postižením a ucelenou rehabilitací. Praktická část je zpracována na základě kvalitativního výzkumného šetření. Její součástí jsou případové studie. Praktická část práce si klade za cíl, během vstupního vyšetření prostřednictvím testu funkční míry nezávislosti pro děti a dospělé, posoudit dovednosti a schopnosti jedinců s mentálním postižením a na tomto základě stanovit možnosti jejich rozvoje. Oblasti jejich rozvoje budou stanoveny v plánu rozvoje funkční míry nezávislosti. Funkční míra nezávislosti pro děti obsahuje oblast kognitivní schopnosti a pro dospělé oblast komunikace, které jsou dále rozděleny na podoblast rozumění a exprese. Za účelem komplexního posouzení mluvního projevu jedince byla podoblast exprese rozdělena do čtyř jazykových rovin.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with special educational intervention in individuals with intellectual disabilities. The thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part anchors the knowledge concerning mental retardation and intellectual disability. In particular, it deals with the terminological anchoring and classification of intellectual disability; diagnosis and diagnostic tools; specific features and impaired communication skills in individuals with intellectual disability; and comprehensive rehabilitation. The practical part is based on a qualitative research investigation. It includes case studies. The practical part of the thesis aims, during the initial examination by means of the functional independence test for children and adults, to assess the skills and abilities of individuals with intellectual disabilities and on this basis to determine the possibilities of their development. The areas of their development will be identified in the functional independence development plan. Functional measures of independence for children include the cognitive ability domain and for adults the communication domain, which are further subdivided into the reasoning and expression subdomains. In order to comprehensively assess an individual's speech, the expression subdomain was divided into four language levels.
